“The inaugural tournament in Dallas was a success! Great people and the event was organized well. Chicken N Pickle and the USWPA made the event worthwhile, enjoyable and we got to play A LOT of pickleball! I hope we can double our players next tournament.”

“It was a very well run tournament. The nice thing was that there were athletes with different skill levels in the tournament and they were grouped accordingly. This made it a much fairer and enjoyable tournament for everyone. The owner of the club and everyone affiliated with the tournamnet were very passionate about us having a great experience. They have already let Chip know that they’d like to have us back next year!I absolutely plan to be there”
The Pickle Lodge Tournament Cincinnati Ohio October 2024

“The Monster Mash in Cincinnati was a blast. We couldn't have asked for better hosts with the Pickle Lodge. Mitch, Kellie, Todd, Larry, Tom, Chip and others went above and beyond to make this a great experience for all of us. I'm grateful for all they did for the wheelchair players. It was fun to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. The competition was top notch and Sunday Fun Day hybrid play was a ball! Thanks US Wheelchair Pickleball Association and everyone else for a great tournament!”

“I had a great time seeing everyone and meeting some friends. The play was great. For me it is not about winning medals. It’s about getting out and playing a sport that is for “every body.”
We held our first USWPA event of 2024 and it was a great success! We had 16 participants from 13 different states as well as the top player from Quebec Canada. We had two divisions of singles, combined doubles, as well as a hybrid event.
The tournament was amazing and the owner of the club, Mitch Dunn, from the Pickle Lodge rolled out the red carpet for all the players. Not only did they reduce the entry fee to five dollars for our members but also housed all those out-of-state members that needed assistance. They also supplied food vouchers for Saturday, so there was very little cost for the players besides getting to town.
Friday started off with singles and Jeff from Canada winning first place , Chip Parmelly came in second and we had a three-way tie for third between Michael Lipp, Jim Black and Robert Doyle. Based on point differential Michael Lipp placed third. In our other singles division, Israel Melick won first place, Marianne Orr came in second and Lloyd Thomas placed third. Both divisions had great competition throughout and we are super excited to see this grow into a much larger event at our next location.
Doubles had some very exciting competition matches and even had a broken chair mishap in the middle of the event. We were able to get him back on the court in record time so that everyone was able to complete their doubles matches. Due to the mishap, we shortened the competition brackets. Our plan was for eight spots, but we were only able to play one match each to decide who our winners were. First place to Jim black and Chip Parmelly, second place was Michael Lipp and Robert Doyle (who actually beat the field in the real competition), third place went to Jeff and Don Johnston.
The hybrid was on Sunday and it became more of an exhibition event. We had 8 to 10 standing players and they enjoyed playing with our different wheelchair players. We learned from this event and we have decided that in our upcoming tournaments Friday night is going to be a party type celebration with an exhibition hybrid. Able bodied players will be able to pay to play with the wheelchair players and we will have Saturday singles and Sunday doubles going forward. Those funds will go to the USWPA to help support the growth of the sport in 2025 and beyond.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our first event of 2025 in Tulsa Ok Jan 10-12. My contact there informed me they have 8-10 local players ready to play so we believe this will be our largest event to date!
